Assoc.-Prof. Dr. Stefan Spirk from the TU Graz will give a talk on „Renewable energy storage materials" on May 3.
Energy storage materials have been dominated by compounds which have a rather poor environmental performance. This includes the electrochemically active materials based on inorganic materials, polymer separators as well as electrodes. In this talk, Prof. Spirk summarizes recent developments in the usage of renewable materials in such applications, with emphasis on polysaccharides and lignin derived compounds. He also covers issues related to the availability and sustainability aspects related to the production, use and after end of life of selected components.
