The scientific theme of the Doctoral School “Bone, Muscle & Joint” encompasses a variety of musculoskeletal disorders including highly relevant areas for medical research and patient care.
The faculty of this Doc School currently consists of more than 40 researchers of whom the majority has a clinical background. They have devoted themselves with enthusiasm to further advancing the already established paths of doctoral education at the Medical University of Graz by providing comprehensive insight into the many molecular aspects of diseases, including pathogenesis, diagnostic paths, novel therapeutic targets and state-of-the-art clinical treatments.
Accordingly, students receive in-depth training in the exploration of the molecular mechanisms and cellular functions involved in the pathogenesis of a variety of musculoskeletal disorders. In addition, students are introduced to a wide range of diagnostic procedures, novel therapeutic strategies, and areas where further basic research is needed to fulfill unmet clinical demands.
